MAXON Computer is a leading developer of 3D software for the creative industries, best known for Its flagship 3D modeling, painting, rendering, and animation software, CINEMA 4D. Today, thousands of users across the world rely on CINEMA 4D to create cutting-edge 3D motion graphics, architectural and product visualizations, video game graphics, illustrations, and much more. MAXON's client list includes ABC, Blizzard Entertainment, BMW, BSkyB, CNN, Fox, ITV Creative, MPC (Moving Picture Company), NBC, NFL Network, Rhythm & Hues, Siemens VDO, Sony Pictures Imageworks, The Walt Disney Company, Turner Broadcasting, Vitra, and many more.
Formed in 1986 by current CEOs Harald Egel, Harald Schneider and Uwe Baertels, MAXON's headquarters is located in Germany. MAXON operates subsidiaries in the U.S. and U.K., and competence centers in Japan, France and Singapore. In addition, MAXON products are sold and supported by over 150 distributors and resellers in over 80 countries worldwide. In early 2000, Nemetschek AG (www.nemetschek.com), Europe's leading vendor of software for architecture and construction, acquired a 70% share of MAXON. 30% of shares remain in the ownership of the company's founders. Becoming part of the Nemetschek group (whose products include leading CAD brands such as Allplan, ArchiCAD and Vectorworks) has enabled MAXON to dramatically increase its sales to the architecture and visualization markets.
First released commercially in 1993 on the Amiga platform, CINEMA 4D debuted on Mac OS and Windows OS in 1996. In 2000, BodyPaint 3D followed, an innovative 3D painting application available as an integrated part of CINEMA 4D or as a standalone product for use with other 3D applications. Now in its 14th release some 18 years later, CINEMA 4D has always been known for powerful features, rock-solid stability, ease-of-use and fast workflow. Close relationships to hardware manufacturers like Intel and Apple guarantee optimized products that follow the pulse of technology closely. There has been a major feature-packed release of CINEMA 4D almost every year since its creation. Despite this rapid development speed, stability remains excellent for the product. MAXON's experienced programming team is still headed by CINEMA 4D's original programmers, who ensure that all new features stay true to their aims from day one of power, speed, stability and ease-of-use. |

Cinema
4D is 3D for the real world. When you’re working with
tight deadlines every day you need the right tool to
meet just about any challenge. Cinema 4D R16 is
uncompromising in meeting and exceeding these
challenges.
Cinema 4D Release 16 was
developed with all aspects of the application in mind
and features were integrated or enhanced that simplify
workflow and make working with CINEMA 4D even more
efficient and effective. With Cinema 4D Release 16
you’ll enjoy that optimized workflow throughout the
application.
REFLECTANCE CHANNEL - ADD SHINE TO YOUR SCENES
Impress clients with the
new Reflectance channel in Cinema 4D R16, which lets you
create multi-layered materials and surfaces with
breathtaking quality. You will discover new
possibilities for creating complex materials ranging
from beautiful car lacquer to a wide range of textile
surfaces.
MOTION TRACKER – WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD
A precise camera
reconstruction is essential for combining 3D
elements with live footage for realistic-looking
results. The new Motion Tracker lets you do this
with just a few clicks of the mouse.
People who
use Cinema 4D are problem solvers who attack
problems from multiple different ways. With
new motivation because of these new tools,
Im really excited to see how the whole
community reacts over the next couple years.
POLY PEN – A MODELING REVOLUTION
With the newly developed,
multi-functional PolyPen tool – a perennial
“Swiss knife” for modelers – you can
intuitively paint polygons in 3D
space!
SCULPTING – SHAPING THE FUTURE
The sculpting toolset in Cinema 4D R16 has been
enhanced with many new and optimized tools,
which makes this feature even more flexible to
use and makes the tools even easier to control.
High-res sculpting meshes can be imported from
external applications and easily converted to
low-res Cinema 4D objects with Sculpt tags,
without sacrificing detail.
NEW MATERIAL AND OBJECT LIBRARY
Take advantage of a
newly developed content library, which was created
with your everyday production pipeline in mind.

Graphics cards
Generally speaking,
CINEMA 4D and BodyPaint 3D support all OpenGL
2.1-capable graphics cards. Nevertheless, we recommend
using a dedicated 3D graphics card with an AMD or NVIDIA
chip set. High-performance graphics chips are currently
already available in mid-range laptops.Make sure that
you always use the most current certified graphics card
driver (no beta versions). To find out more about
processing speed, CINEBENCH test results can be found
online.Important noticeMAXON is not responsible for the
compatibility of individual graphics cards with the
OpenGL mode. Due to the large number and types of
available chip sets, operating systems and driver
versions we cannot guarantee the compatibility of all
systems. The technical specifications of MAXON products
are constantly changing. Please use the most current
demo version of the software to test its compatibility
on your computer.
Regarding NVIDIA 3D
Vision
A quad buffered graphics
card is required to use NVIDIA's 3D Vision Shutter
glasses for viewing the stereoscopic display in CINEMA
4D.
An overview of graphics
cards that meet all requirements can be found here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro_pro_graphics_boards.html
