MRC is licensed by the number of help desk technicians your organization has and not by agent or end-point. DameWare Mini Remote Control System
(Minimum) Requirements
MRC Client Agent Service (Installed on the remote
machine)
The MRC client agent service can be installed and run on machines running all Microsoft Windows Operating Systems beginning with and including Windows Server 2008/2008 R2, 2012/2012 R2, Windows Vista, Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10. All service pack levels are supported with these operating systems except where noted. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of these operating systems are supported. For 64-bit remote machines, the new 64-bit MRC Client Agent Service can be used.
MRC Installed on the remote
machine
The MRC program is officially supported on all Microsoft Windows Operating Systems beginning with Windows Vista. The local machine, where the MRC application is installed, must be running one of the following Microsoft Windows Operating Systems: Windows Server 2008/2008 R2, 2012/2012 R2, Windows Vista, Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10. All service pack levels for these Operating Systems are supported unless noted. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of these Operating Systems are supported.
***Older Operating Systems may be able to run the MRC application; however, DameWare cannot provide support for those installations.
MRC Mirror Driver (supported on Windows XP SP2 or higher)
The video card of the remote machine must support the
following raster capabilities:
- Transferring bitmaps (RC_BITBLT)
- Supporting the Windows APIs, SetDIBits and GetDIBits
functions (RC_DI_BITMAP)
- Support only one color plane.
Smart Card Login &
Authentication (v5.5 and above only)
According to Microsoft, Smart Card Login & Authentication
is only supported on Windows 2000 and above. Including:
- Windows Vista
- Windows 2008 Server
- Windows 2008 R2 Server
- Windows 2012 Server
- Windows 2012 R2 Server
- Windows 7
- Windows 8
- Windows 8.1
- Windows 10
Other than Microsoft’s implemented Smart Card Services
(scardsvr), no additional middleware is directly required by
our software for Smart Card Authentication & Login.
A Smart Card reader is not required on the remote
machine.
Your Operating System and network implementation must be
configured properly for Smart Card authentication.

Licensing DameWare Mini Remote Control is licensed by the number of IT technicians using it, not by end-users or computers supported, with no additional fees for client agents installed by the program. For example, if there are 10 technicians that will be running the software and connecting to 10,000 remote machines, a 10-technician license is required.
Each technician license allows for three separate installations (for example: desktop, laptop, and home computer) provided that they are the only person running the software on those additional machines. |
